Jeremy Phillips
Visiting Professorial Fellow


Jeremy Phillips has been an enthusiastic and regular contributor to the research community of QMIPRI for many years. He has been actively involved in intellectual property teaching and research since 1973 and began lecturing in intellectual property at Queen Mary in 1984 until 1987. In 2003, Jeremy returned to Queen Mary as a Visiting Professorial Fellow.

Jeremy is a noted member of the international IP community. He has been the editor of several major IP publications, including Managing Intellectual Property (1991-1995, where he continues as a member of the Editorial Board), and is the Editor of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice (OUP), launched in 2005. Jeremy is a consultant for Olswang Solicitors.

Jeremy is also the life and soul of IPKat, one of the most influential IP blogs in Europe, which he launched in 2003. The IPKat team has a very strong QMIPRI connection. It includes Ilanah Simon Fhima (PhD graduate of Queen Mary, 2007), Johanna Gibson (Herchel Smith Professor of IP Law and Co-Director of QMIPRI) and David Pearce (MSc alumnus).

Jeremy teaches trade marks on the MSc and LLM.
