Digital Ties

13:00-14:30

Computer programmes are increasingly inter-related. The increasing sophistication of digital rights management and technical protection measures is putting further pressure on interoperability, a pressure explored in T-201/04 Microsoft and a pressure which Articles 5 and 6 of the Computer Software Directive 91/250/EEC were not designed to meet. In addition, the convergence of delivery over the internet meets that issues of conditional access are coming to the fore. This panel will explore the progress that has been made towards interoperability and the drivers that are pushign the industry away from, and towards, global standards.
